My past can be described as a whirlwind of both ups and downs. I faced fierce economic instability for a total of 4 years. Without truly understanding how or why, I was being displaced from my childhood home and parts of my family. This traumatic experience in my developmental years took a severe toll on my emotional health.Although, even at rock bottom there were true heroes in my life who allowed for me to inevitably gain success. One of these people being my own mother who took me and my other 5 siblings under her wing, at the time I was angry about being forced to move but now have gained the understanding that it was truly the best option. In a completely different environment, I was able to dedicate myself to my academic success in high school. My fierce work ethic combined with my competitive nature allowed me to thrive in school with both academics, athletics, and community involvement. I threw myself into my work during one of the hardest times in my life in order to forget what was occurring. This allowed for me to be successful and obtain admission to various top institutions. I choose UIUC for the fierce academic standing combined with being a financially smart option. Although, I have gained various scholarships due to my academic achievements, some only last for freshman year. I still find myself needing some additional aid in order to not be completely burned with loans upon graduation as I aspire to eventually complete law school.
