Many qualify kids’ aspirations as frivolous as they expect them to change their aspirations anytime when growing up. Mine has not changed; it has flourished. I always wanted to be a journalist as a child. I admired seeing women specifically on TV covering hard news. And Later when maturing, I discovered my call-in life which was to denounce wrongdoings. I firmly knew that being a journalist would help me expose evils because of the society I grew up in that was hiding the truth from the people. Throughout the years, I have realized that denunciating is one of the first steps into change; then comes actions. I knew that there are different ways you can act and mine is into politics. Knowing that everything is politicized, I chose to act through the laws that govern all of us. Thereupon, I want to be an international reporter and a politician. I would like to work with international organizations and together think about better plans to resolve conflict and to come to the rescue of third world countries.
My aspirations and motives have a lot to do with my background. As a child of an immigrant and an immigrant myself who came to the U.S as a teenager, I had to learn in the hard way. Between the political tension from where I come from to racism in the country that received me, I feel like I have to fight three times harder than others. First as a woman, then as a black person and last but not least as an immigrant. Therefore, I jump into opportunities that can help me move forward with my education journey. I am one of those who firmly believe that education changes not only the world but us and our vision of the world also.
You will not regret uplifting a young woman like me with big dreams and who knows her place in this world. In addition, knowing the existence of this platform has encouraged me to believe in the goodness in people and motivated me to follow the same steps in the future.
